TUCSON WATER: PUBLIC PROGRAMS

ABOUT TUCSON WATER

The mission of the Tucson Water Department is to provide safe, reliable water and excellent customer service to our community in an efficient, affordable, and environmentally responsible manner. To accomplish this mission, Tucson Water focuses on the following:


  • Delivering safe drinking water and high-quality reclaimed water service to over 730,000 people in the greater Tucson metropolitan area, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year
  • Providing stewardship of the community's water supplies and conservation programming to meet current needs, save water for the future, and prepare for the challenges of a changing climate
  • Promoting a safe and supportive work environment for our employees with opportunities for unlimited personal and professional growth
  • Protecting public health in our drinking water while enhancing our natural and built environments
  • Addressing affordability and equity needs of a diverse community, including a viewpoint that water can contribute in numerous ways to a better quality of life, and 
  • Partnering with the community to provide water education, green economy opportunities, and a sustainable future.

Water by the Weather and Landscape Watering Guidelines are publications to help determine the best watering schedule for landscapes and achieve maximum irrigation efficiency


Pima County SmartScape Program

SmartScape promotes best management practices based on xeriscape principles for creating and maintaining healthy, water-efficient landscapes.


Sweetwater Wetlands

Sweetwater Wetlands is a water treatment facility, an urban wildlife habitat, and an outdoor classroom that is open seven days a week.


Conserve2Enhance

Conserve2Enhance (C2E) is a program that links water conservation efforts to watershed restoration and enhancement, ensuring that your water savings benefit our community.​

Green Infrastructure Maintenance Guidelines Video

As the City of Tucson installs more green infrastructure along streets and on public properties, maintenance practices will need to be adjusted to fit the designed structures. Crews will need to know the difference between native plants, invasive plants, and excess volunteer plants. They also will need to know proper techniques for pruning.
